A smooth and intuitive user experience

Smooth is a barbershop app that allows customers to book services and purchase products in just a few taps. The goal was to design a user experience that was convenient, fast, and frictionless, with an intuitive and visually appealing interface. It was essential to create a system that combined functionality and style, improving appointment and e-commerce management without compromising ease of use.

Strategic UX and tailored UI

I designed the entire user experience for Smooth, analyzing the navigation flow to make every interaction clear and immediate. I crafted a modern, elegant UI aligned with the barbershop’s brand identity and developed a scalable Design System, allowing the app to grow over time while maintaining consistency. The result is an accessible and functional interface that enhances the customer experience and simplifies business management.

Problem statement

In today’s fast-paced world, we are constantly searching for ways to save time and simplify our tasks. Even booking an appointment with the barber can become stressful if the process is not user-friendly. My client asked me to improve their booking system to enhance customer satisfaction and attract new clients. Additionally, they wanted a solution to boost product sales.

Solution proposed

To meet these needs, I designed an app that integrates both functionalities.
The app features a simplified booking system, personalized notifications, and a built-in store for purchasing products. This solution enables the client to gather valuable user data, allowing for targeted marketing campaigns.
On the other hand, users benefit from a smooth experience that saves time and enhances convenience.
By streamlining the booking process and offering an intuitive way to discover and buy products, the app not only increases customer loyalty but also generates additional revenue through product upselling.
Thanks to this app, the barbershop becomes a modern, customer-focused business that stands out in a competitive market.

Research Findings

I sent out 15 surveys to people from different age groups.
The results highlighted the following key issues to address:

  • Inability to choose a preferred barber

  • Difficulty or inability to reschedule an appointment

  • Booking process is too long

Target

Young Adults (19–26 years old):
This group, made up of digital natives, values convenience and speed. Many are students or early-career professionals, so they appreciate a simple and intuitive booking system that allows them to save time and plan around their busy schedules.

Professionals and Parents (30–45 years old):
This segment includes individuals juggling careers and family responsibilities. For them, the app is a time-saving tool that enables them to quickly book appointments and manage their schedules with ease, even amidst a hectic day

Adults 45 and Older:
While this group may not always be as tech-savvy, they still appreciate the app’s straightforward interface. The ability to book appointments without needing to call the barbershop is a convenience they increasingly value. Additionally, features like
appointment reminders ensure they don’t miss their time slot, making the process even smoother.
